Representations of Tara
Tara is said to be particularly quick at fulfilling wishes and protecting against danger, which is naturally also expressed in her posture, which is ready to spring up. Green Tara is often depicted sitting on a lotus throne. The right leg is ready to leap in order to be able to rush into the world and bring help to beings. The left leg rests in a meditation position. The right hand in the varada mudra (palm stretched open to the front) and with a lotus symbolizes the wish-granting gesture. The left hand at heart level is in the Prithvi mudra (thumb and ring finger, the heart finger, come together) and holds a lotus. These mudras are said to increase energy and promote inner stability and self-confidence.
